Honey Ice Cream

I was having a dinner party and needed to find a simple, good and quick dessert recipe.  And what not better than just homemade ice cream that has 4 simple ingredients.  Everybody loves home made ice cream and this one sounded fantastic. I came across 101 Cookbooks and there was a recipe in there that I wanted to try.  The original recipe calls for Heather Honey but I couldn’t find that.  I just had simple Clover Honey that I used instead. This recipe was so simple.  Heat all your ingredients and let them steep for an hour. Chill the mixture, and then pour it into your ice cream maker and let it run until your ice cream is the consistency you want.  Serve with your favorite simple cookies.

This ice cream is rich and sweet! One of my favorites! I highly recommend trying it out! Delishhh!

Honey Ice Cream Recipe

Yields: 2 cups

Prep Time: 10 minutes | Steep & Chill Time: 2 hours

2 vanilla beans
2 cups heavy cream
1 cup whole milk
1/2 cup honey

Flatten the vanilla beans and cut them in half lengthwise. With a small spoon, scrape out the seeds. Place the seeds and pods in a large saucepan. Add the cream, milk, and honey. Stir to dissolve the honey. Heat over moderate heat, stirring from time to time, just until tiny bubbles form around the edges of the pan, 3 to 4 minutes.

Remove from the heat and let steep, covered, for 1 hour.

Cover and refrigerate until thoroughly chilled.

    Honey sounds like a great, subtle flavor for ice cream; especially with vanilla. I bet it was a hit!

    I have a hard time imagining a honey flavor, I think it’s because I’m imagining like a honey ginger sort of thing. Which could be good too I suppose. Love your ice cream recipes. 🙂

    Homemade ice cream always wows
    with it’s simple yet wonderful flavors.
    None of the icky stuff that most
    commercial brands add. I do find that
    it’s best to eat it right away, though,
    as homemade freezes really hard since
    it doesn’t have the additives that keep
    it soft. I have made vanilla before but
    love the idea of adding the honey.

    I bought an ice cream maker earlier this summer, but it’s been a few months since I’ve put it to use. This flavor sounds delicate and lightly sweet…perfect for making something a la mode (apple pie, perhaps…?).

    I often make honey vanilla ice cream, but I’ve always used vanilla extract. I bet it’s fabulous made with a vanilla bean! I’ll have to try it. Thanks for the recipe!

    Mmmm..this is one of the most inviting icecreams I have ever seen or tasted. Loved the idea of adding fresh vanilla beans, makes it more sumptuous. I wud certainly like to try this expert version of urs… !

    I lived in Germany for a couple years duirng fifth and sixth grade. The candy left a great impression on me. Every morning I would stop in at the deli by the school bus stop and buy some sweet candy strips similar to sour powers but flat. They were so fresh from the candy factory near my home. I believe it was ten strips for a dollar and I remember that in class sometimes the air would fill with their scent when a student would sneak a strip.
